Jobu Golf Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 11, 2026
Jobu Golf is an app for golf groups: weekly games, season standings, and Ryder Cup–style trips between two teams, with live scoring, chats and shared photos. It's made by Jobu Golf ("we"). This policy explains what the app collects, why, who it's shared with, and the choices you have.
Groups
Anyone can sign up with their email and start a group, or join one with an invite link from its organizer. Everything in a group (scores, chats, photos, stats) is visible only to that group's members. A group's organizers run it: they set up games and trips, manage the roster, and review reported messages.
What we collect
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your name, nickname and email address | To let you sign in with an emailed code, and to show you in your groups' games, trips and standings |
| The groups you're in and your role in each | To show you each group's games, trips and chats, and let organizers run them |
| Your handicap index, team and tees for each game or trip | To work out handicap strokes, pairings and tee times |
| Whether you're in or out for a weekly game | To set the tee sheet |
| Golf scores, match results, season points, and who entered or changed each score and when | To run the leaderboard and standings and keep each group's record |
| Messages you send in a group's chats, and your reactions, replies and when you last read each chat | To run the group's chat and your team's chat, and show who's seen what |
| Photos and videos you choose to add, with when they were taken, their size and length, your favorites and reactions | To show them in the group's albums and chats, grouped by day |
| Messages or photos you report, and players you block | So organizers can review reports, and so you don't see people you've blocked |
| Questions you ask the stats, and the date of any AI connector link you make | To answer them, and to limit how many can be asked each day |
| A push notification token for your phone, and your notification settings | To send the notifications you've chosen (birdies, results, chat messages and so on) |
| Error reports from the app: what went wrong, the app version and your phone's platform | To find and fix bugs. They're deleted after 90 days. |
| Your choice about AI recaps | To know whether your name can be used in them (see below) |
We don't collect your location, contacts or payment information. The app has no ads, doesn't track you across other apps or websites, and doesn't sell data.
Photos, videos and your camera
- With your permission, the app looks through your photo library on your phone for photos and videos taken during a trip's dates, so you can pick which to add. Only the ones you choose are uploaded. You can also take a photo with the camera.
- Photos and videos in an album are visible to the group's members. Ones shared in a team chat are visible only to that team. You and the group's organizers can remove a photo or video at any time, and it's deleted for good.
Chats and content rules
Each group has a chat for everyone and, during a trip, one for each team; a team chat is visible only to its team. Before posting, everyone agrees to the chat rules. You can report any message or photo, and the group's organizers review reports and can remove content. You can block another player, and you'll no longer see their messages. When a message contains a link, the app fetches that page's title and image to show a preview.
Face ID and fingerprint log in
If you turn on log in with Face ID, Touch ID or your fingerprint, your phone checks it; the app never sees or stores your face or fingerprint, only whether you've turned the option on. Your sign-in is stored on your phone encrypted, with its key in the phone's secure Keychain (Android Keystore).
AI features
The app uses Claude, an AI model from Anthropic, to write match and session recaps, post countdown notes before a trip from the group's AI player, and answer questions about the group's stats. For these, the only personal information the app sends Anthropic is players' first names, last names, nicknames, golf scores and results, and for a stats question, the question itself. It never sends email addresses or chat messages. Along with that go details that aren't personal (team names, courses, sessions) and phrases the group has added ("group lingo").
- The app asks you first. If you say no to AI recaps, you appear as a player on your team (for example "a Red player"), and nothing with your name is sent. You can change your choice any time in Profile → Settings.
- Anthropic uses this data only to write the response and does not use it to train its AI models.
- Recaps and notes are shown only to the group's members. Organizers can rewrite or delete any recap.
You can also make a personal link that lets your own AI app (Claude, ChatGPT or another) read your group's stats: records, results and head-to-heads, never chats, photos or emails. Only you see the link; anyone you give it to can read those stats. You can turn it off any time in Settings, and a new link replaces the old one.
Who we share data with
We use these service providers to run the app. Each gets only what it needs:
- Supabase: hosts the database, chats and sign-in.
- Cloudflare: hosts the website and stores the photos and videos (in a private storage bucket).
- Resend: sends the sign-in code emails.
- Expo, with Apple and Google push services: deliver app updates and push notifications.
- Anthropic: powers the AI features, as described above.
We don't share data with anyone else, except if required by law.
How long we keep it
Scores and results make up each group's history, so we keep them year to year. Chats, photos and videos are kept until they're removed or the account that posted them is deleted. Error reports are deleted after 90 days.
If you delete your account, we delete your login, email address, push tokens and notification settings, your chat messages, reactions and read receipts, your reports and blocks, your stats questions and connector links, and every photo and video you added (including the files). Your name stays on the games and matches you played, so the other players' results and history still add up. If you'd like your name removed from past results too, contact us.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Profile → Settings → Delete my account. If you're the last organizer of a group, make someone else an organizer first. You can also ask us to do it using the contact details below.
Children
Jobu Golf is for adults. It isn't directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections and stored with access rules that limit each person to their own groups. Only a group's organizers can change its games, trips, rosters and pairings.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and let members know in the app.
